About the Role
As Wood Yard Manager, you'll take the helm of daily operations at our Birmingham wood yard facility. This is a hands-on management role where you'll ensure smooth, efficient, and safe processing of materials while driving productivity and maintaining the high standards National Salvage & Service Corporation is known for across the industry.
What You'll Do
- Direct and supervise wood yard staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management
- Oversee all aspects of material processing and yard operations to meet production targets
- Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate logistics for material intake and distribution
- Maintain equipment in proper working condition and coordinate preventative maintenance
- Track and report on operational metrics, quality measures, and team performance
- Identify operational improvements and implement process enhancements
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in yard management, facilities operations, or manufacturing supervision
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and manage a team
- Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and best practices in material handling
- Solid organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with inventory management and logistics coordination
- Ability to work on-site and manage daily operational challenges
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in safety or operations a plus
