Water/Wastewater Design Engineer

DJ&A is hiring a full-time Water/Wastewater Design Engineer at its Orchards, Clark County office — a hands-on engineering role at a nationally recognized multidisciplinary consulting firm serving clients across infrastructure, utilities, and beyond.

About the Role

As a Water/Wastewater Design Engineer with DJ&A in Clark County, you will take ownership of technical design work across a range of water distribution and wastewater collection projects. You will collaborate closely with project managers and fellow engineers to deliver utility solutions that meet client needs and regulatory standards in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Produce detailed engineering designs for water distribution systems, wastewater collection networks, pump stations, and related utility infrastructure
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and engineer's cost estimates for municipal and private clients
• Perform hydraulic analyses and apply modeling tools to support system planning and capacity studies
• Coordinate permitting applications and regulatory submittals with local, state, and federal agencies
• Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and construction-phase support as needed
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations for internal teams and clients
• Collaborate with DJ&A's broader service disciplines — including Site Development, Geospatial Solutions, and Structural Design — to deliver integrated project outcomes
• Support project managers in tracking scope, schedule, and deliverable milestones

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience designing water and/or wastewater systems in a consulting or municipal engineering environment
• Working knowledge of relevant design standards, including those published by AWWA, WEF, and applicable state or local jurisdictions in Washington or Oregon
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable civil design software
• Familiarity with hydraulic modeling platforms such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or similar tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present technical findings clearly
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent project tasks
