Cable South Construction Llc is hiring a Full-Time Underground Laborer – Utilities in Roanoke, Roanoke County. You'll support the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical underground utility infrastructure serving the community, working alongside experienced tradespeople to keep water, gas, and electrical systems running safely and reliably.
About the Role
As an Underground Laborer – Utilities with Cable South Construction Llc, you'll be part of a team responsible for the essential work that keeps utility systems operational across the Roanoke area. Underground utility work is foundational to community infrastructure—your efforts directly impact the reliability of water distribution, natural gas delivery, and electrical service to homes and businesses throughout Roanoke County.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the installation of new underground utility lines, including water mains, gas lines, and electrical conduits
- Perform maintenance and inspection work on existing underground utility systems
- Support repair operations when utility lines require attention or replacement
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, and machinery under supervision
- Prepare work sites, including trenching, backfilling, and site cleanup
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment
- Collaborate with skilled tradespeople, technicians, and crew members to complete projects
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment as needed
What We're Looking For
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, digging, and sustained outdoor work
- Willingness to learn and follow instruction from experienced team members
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Ability to work reliably as part of a team in all weather conditions
- Valid driver's license preferred
- High school diploma or GED equivalent desired
