Trust and Estates Associate Attorney

Attorneys, a well-established law practice in Madison, Morris County, is seeking a full-time Trust and Estates Associate Attorney to join its team and serve clients across a broad range of estate planning and administration matters.

About the Role

This full-time associate position places you at the center of a sophisticated trusts and estates practice in Morris County, New Jersey. You will work closely with senior attorneys and directly with clients to deliver comprehensive, personalized estate planning counsel — from initial engagement through final administration.

What You'll Do

• Draft and review wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives
• Counsel individuals and families on estate planning strategies tailored to their financial and personal goals
• Guide clients through the probate process and manage estate administration from opening to closing
• Administer trusts, including communicating with trustees and beneficiaries and preparing accountings
• Research federal and New Jersey estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues and apply findings to client plans
• Prepare or coordinate the preparation of estate and gift tax returns
• Support matters involving special needs planning, charitable giving vehicles, and business succession structures
• Maintain organized matter files and meet client deadlines with minimal supervision

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active admission to the New Jersey State Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
• Prior experience in trusts and estates law, whether through associate practice, law school clinic, or a clerkship with a trusts and estates focus
• Solid grasp of federal transfer tax concepts and New Jersey estate law
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — you will draft complex documents and speak directly with clients
• Strong organizational habits and the ability to manage multiple open matters simultaneously
• A client-first mindset and genuine interest in building long-term advisory relationships
