J.E. Dunn Construction Company is seeking an experienced Traveling Project Manager- Aviation to lead complex aviation construction projects at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston County. This full-time, travel-intensive role is ideal for a results-driven construction professional who thrives on delivering high-profile aviation and federal facility work.
About the Role
As a Traveling Project Manager- Aviation with J.E. Dunn Construction Company, you will oversee the full lifecycle of aviation construction projects, balancing schedule, budget, quality, and safety from preconstruction through closeout. Because this position requires regular travel between assignments, you should be comfortable relocating temporarily and managing teams across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day operations of aviation construction projects based out of Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston County.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost reporting to keep work on track and on target.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field staff to ensure efficient sequencing and resource allocation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and government stakeholders.
- Enforce safety standards and quality control protocols across every phase of construction.
- Review contracts, change orders, submittals, and RFIs to protect project interests and timelines.
- Travel to project locations as assignments require, leading on-site teams through completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing commercial, federal, or aviation construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, and cost-control practices.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work on-site at Charleston Air Force Base and other assigned locations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to interpret construction documents, contracts, and specifications.
