Travel Psychiatric RN

About the Role

This travel nursing position focuses exclusively on psychiatric and behavioral health care, supporting patients managing mental illness, emotional crises, and co-occurring conditions. You'll work 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week, as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to safe, evidence-based psychiatric practice in Radcliff, KY.

What You'll Do

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and monitor patient mental status throughout each shift
• Administer prescribed psychiatric medications and evaluate therapeutic responses and side effects
• Develop and carry out individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors
• Apply de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention protocols to maintain a safe unit environment
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and community resources
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record system
• Participate in care coordination meetings and discharge planning for psychiatric patients

What We're Looking For

• Active, unencumbered RN license valid in Kentucky (or compact license eligibility)
• Verified clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health nursing setting
• Current BLS certification; additional psychiatric nursing certifications are a plus
• Proficiency with electronic health record documentation
• Strong therapeutic communication skills and the ability to remain calm in high-acuity situations
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly as a travel nurse in a new facility environment
• Commitment to patient dignity, safety, and trauma-informed psychiatric care
