Transmission Line Civil Inspector/Observer

Excel Engineering is seeking a detail-driven Transmission Line Civil Inspector/Observer to join our team in New Brighton, Ramsey County. In this full-time, on-site role, you will help ensure that critical transmission line construction is built to specification, on schedule, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

About the Role

As a Transmission Line Civil Inspector/Observer, you will serve as the eyes on the ground throughout transmission line projects, monitoring civil construction activities and documenting progress in the field. This is a hands-on, full-time position based in New Brighton, Ramsey County, ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors and contributing to the infrastructure that keeps communities powered.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect civil construction work on transmission line projects to confirm compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and applicable codes
• Document daily field activities, progress, materials, and any deviations through detailed reports and records
• Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site crews to communicate findings and resolve issues
• Monitor adherence to safety protocols and quality standards across the construction site
• Verify that foundations, grading, and related civil work meet project requirements

Qualifications

• Background in civil construction inspection, observation, or a related engineering or construction field
• Familiarity with transmission line, utility, or heavy civil construction practices
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
• Strong written documentation skills and attention to detail
• Comfort working outdoors in field conditions and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
