Traffic Control Flagger

Join AWP Safety as a Traffic Control Flagger in Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County, and play a critical role in keeping construction sites and roadways safe. This is a full-time position where you'll become an essential member of our site safety team.

Role Overview

As a Traffic Control Flagger with AWP Safety, you'll manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow at active construction zones and roadway projects. Your role is fundamental to site safety and project efficiency—you'll be the trained professional who ensures everyone on and around the job site moves safely and follows proper traffic patterns. No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to set you up for success.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Strategically place and remove traffic cones, signage, and barricades to control site access and traffic flow
• Operate stop and slow paddles to communicate with drivers, directing traffic around active work zones
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian movement continuously, maintaining awareness of job site conditions
• Uphold all safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols without exception
• Communicate effectively with construction crews and site supervisors to coordinate traffic management
• Adapt to changing conditions and respond promptly to traffic or safety concerns

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (preferred but not required)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Reliable transportation and ability to arrive on time
• Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• No prior construction or traffic control experience necessary
