About the Role

As a Trade Compliance Specialist at Xylem, you will safeguard the company's import and export activities, ensuring every shipment aligns with U.S. and international trade regulations. Based on-site in Houston, you will partner with logistics, legal, and operations teams to keep cross-border commerce flowing smoothly while minimizing regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee import and export transactions to confirm adherence to customs laws, trade agreements, and sanctions requirements.
• Classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and assign accurate export control codes.
• Screen customers, suppliers, and partners against restricted-party and denied-party lists.
• Maintain complete, audit-ready records of trade documentation and compliance activities.
• Monitor evolving global trade rules and update internal procedures accordingly.
• Support internal reviews, audits, and licensing or permit applications as needed.
• Advise colleagues across departments on compliant shipping and sourcing practices.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of trade compliance principles, including import/export controls and customs procedures.
• Familiarity with tariff classification, valuation, and restricted-party screening tools.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage documentation with accuracy.
• Clear communication skills for collaborating across functions and locations.
• Comfort interpreting and applying regulatory requirements in a fast-moving global business.
