Join onsemi's engineering team in Scottsdale as a System Architect for Power Electronics. In this full-time role, you'll drive the architectural strategy and technical foundation for our next-generation solid-state power device solutions, spanning mission-critical safety systems and advanced motor control applications.
About the Role
As System Architect—Power Electronics at onsemi, you'll own the strategic direction and technical roadmap for semiconductor power solutions deployed in the most demanding industries. You'll translate market requirements, thermal challenges, and electrical constraints into innovative power device architectures that advance the state of the art.
What You'll Do
- Develop system-level architectures for power conversion and control in safety-critical and motor-drive applications
- Define semiconductor device strategies that address real-world customer performance, reliability, and cost targets
- Champion the integration and optimization of advanced power technologies into system designs
- Partner with cross-functional teams—applications engineers, product management, and design teams—to validate architectural decisions
- Guide the technical direction of our power electronics portfolio based on emerging market demands and industry trends
What We're Looking For
- Substantial experience in OEM or semiconductor applications engineering, with a proven track record building power electronics systems
- Deep technical knowledge of power conversion, thermal management, and system integration
- Hands-on familiarity with silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) device technologies, or strong commitment to mastering them
- Understanding of safety-critical system requirements and motor control application domains
- Ability to balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability in complex technical decisions
- Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving skills across engineering and business functions
