About the Role
As a Swim Instructor with the City of Cerritos, you will work under the guidance of the Recreation Services Coordinator at the Cerritos Olympic Swim Center. Your core focus is planning and leading swim classes while keeping a watchful eye on swimmers and the surrounding pool area to ensure everyone stays safe. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Artesia — a hands-on opportunity for someone passionate about aquatics and public recreation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and deliver swim lessons for participants of varying ages and skill levels.
- Actively monitor swimmers and the pool environment throughout each session.
- Identify unsafe conditions or potential hazards and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Clean and help maintain the swimming pool and related facilities.
- Carry out additional duties connected to swim instruction and pool operations as assigned.
Qualifications
- A genuine interest in teaching swimming and promoting water safety.
- Strong attentiveness and the ability to supervise swimmers and pool areas effectively.
- Sound judgment to recognize hazards and act quickly when issues arise.
- Willingness to take direction from the Recreation Services Coordinator and collaborate as part of the aquatics team.
- Reliability for the upkeep and cleanliness of pool facilities.
