About The Role

We are a successful underwriting team growing quickly and are looking for a Support Training Underwriter to join the team and bolster our training academy. This role suits someone with experience delivering training in a lending or financial services environment who is keen to build a career in underwriting.

You’ll join the Training team within Underwriting, supporting onboarding, coaching new starters, and delivering cross-training across the business. Alongside this, you’ll gain hands-on underwriting experience across our unsecured products to build your knowledge and decisioning skills. You’ll also help keep training material up to date, support process improvements, and play an active role in developing both our people and underwriting functions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of underwriting and training materials

• Identify trends or gaps in applications and feed insights back to improve process and policy

• Support quality assurance standards by maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Keep up to date with product, policy, and regulatory changes and apply them in day-to-day work

• Assist with onboarding and development of new starters as confidence and experience grow

• Make decisions on new unsecured personal loan applications using our cutting-edge credit decision technology

• Carry out an in-depth analysis of Open Banking results

• Assess customer affordability and ascertain their creditworthiness

• Shape the processes and procedures we use in underwriting to continue to make them better

• Review and evaluate credit reports

• Carry out Fraud and AML checks

• Follow underwriting policy and procedures

• Liaise with customers to capture information and document where necessary

Who You Are

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a training role

• Experience in a fintech/ start up environment is a bonus

• Prefer some underwriting/ lending experience

• Target-driven with an understanding and desire to achieve our goals

• Compliant to credit policy and procedures and changes

• The ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment

• Enjoy working as part of a team
