Western New Mexico University is hiring a Summer Program Teacher Assistant to support our summer educational initiatives. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on student learning and development in a dynamic classroom environment.
About the Role
As a Teacher Assistant for our Summer Program, you'll work alongside experienced educators to create a supportive learning environment where students thrive. Your contributions will be essential to the success of our summer sessions, helping to deliver quality instruction and meaningful educational experiences for all participants.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Summer Program Lead Teacher to execute daily lesson plans and structured educational activities
- Facilitate small group instruction and one-on-one support to meet individual student needs
- Prepare instructional materials, resources, and classroom supplies in advance of lessons
- Monitor student behavior and implement age-appropriate classroom management strategies that maintain a safe and focused learning environment
- Assist with student assessment and progress tracking activities
- Support student engagement through interactive activities and positive reinforcement
- Maintain clear communication with the Lead Teacher regarding student progress and classroom needs
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background
- Strong commitment to supporting student success and fostering inclusive learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an instructional team
- Patience, flexibility, and genuine enthusiasm for education
- Reliable attendance and professional demeanor
- Experience working with students is valued
