About the Role
As a substitute teacher with Channelview Independent School District, you'll step into classrooms when regular educators are absent, maintaining instructional continuity and student engagement. This full-time position allows you to make a direct impact on student learning outcomes while working within a structured school environment.
What You'll Do
- Deliver classroom lessons following lesson plans and curriculum guidelines provided by permanent teachers
- Foster a productive learning environment through effective classroom management and clear expectations
- Monitor attendance, complete grade entries, and document student progress and behavior
- Collaborate with school staff to address student needs and share relevant classroom observations
- Implement district policies, safety procedures, and instructional standards consistently
- Support all students, including those with diverse learning needs and backgrounds
- Maintain professional communication with administrators, teachers, and families regarding student performance
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven classroom management skills and experience working with K-12 students
- Dependability and strong attendance record
- Ability to adapt to different grade levels, subjects, and classroom environments
- Commitment to supporting equitable student achievement
