About the Role
Substitute elementary teachers are essential to maintaining instructional continuity in Bellevue schools. You'll bring professionalism and dedication to every classroom you enter, supporting student learning by implementing prepared lesson plans while adapting to your students' individual needs and learning styles.
What You'll Do
- Execute daily lesson plans created by classroom teachers, aligned with grade-level standards and learning objectives
- Foster a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and academic engagement
- Deliver clear instructions and communicate expectations effectively to students throughout the school day
- Use proven classroom management strategies to maintain a positive, productive learning space
- Lead engaging instructional activities that help students achieve their learning goals
- Complete attendance records, assignment documentation, and other required classroom administrative tasks
- Collaborate professionally with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and effective school operations
What We're Looking For
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate or substitute teaching authorization (or eligibility to obtain)
- Knowledge of elementary education, K-6 curriculum, and developmentally appropriate teaching practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated classroom management experience and ability to support diverse learners
- Dependability, integrity, and genuine commitment to student success
- Flexibility and skill in adapting lesson plans while responding to classroom dynamics
- Dedication to equity and creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive
