About the Role
The Student Teaching OBSERVATION 2026-27 position is a district-wide field placement within the Lake County Schools Consortium. As a student teacher in this internship-style track, you will observe and gradually engage with the daily work of teaching, building the practical foundation needed to transition from preparation to professional practice. This is an on-site role; remote participation is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe classroom instruction, routines, and student engagement across one or more consortium schools.
- Work alongside a mentor teacher to understand lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment.
- Reflect on observed teaching practices and apply insights to your own developing instructional approach.
- Participate in district-wide activities as assigned throughout the placement.
- Meet the requirements of your teacher preparation program while on site.
Qualifications
- Active enrollment in an accredited teacher education or certification program.
- Eligibility to complete a supervised student teaching or internship placement.
- Willingness to commit to a full-time, in-person schedule for the 2026-27 term.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to student learning.
- Ability to follow consortium and program guidelines for field-based candidates.
