Stantec is hiring a Structural Engineer for our Sacramento office to contribute to water infrastructure and community development projects across Northern California. This full-time position offers the opportunity to apply rigorous engineering expertise to sustainable infrastructure solutions serving growing communities.
About the Role
In this role, you'll design and analyze structural systems for water-related infrastructure and civil projects that improve how communities protect and manage critical resources. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll translate concepts into detailed structural solutions that balance performance, sustainability, and constructability.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis and design using industry-standard software and proven methodologies
- Develop structural plans, specifications, and construction documents meeting applicable codes and standards
- Partner with civil engineers, architects, environmental specialists, and project managers on multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct site investigations and construction inspections to evaluate conditions and monitor progress
- Prepare technical reports and calculations documenting design decisions and project requirements
- Identify innovative approaches that optimize cost, constructability, and environmental performance
- Review contractor submissions and provide technical support during project execution
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis, design theory, and building code compliance
- Experience with CAD software and structural analysis programs
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities with proven teamwork skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one
- Background in water infrastructure, municipal infrastructure, or related civil projects a plus
- Commitment to sustainable design and innovative problem-solving
