Staff Writer, Communications and Marketing

The University of Tennessee Chattanooga is currently looking for a Staff Writer who can provide writing and editing support, for University news and feature stories. This role involves creating content that will be shared across platforms, including the UTC website, external news media outlets and social media channels. The Staff Writer will also play a role in supporting communication and marketing campaigns maintaining editorial standards and assisting with media relations. We are seeking a candidate who possesses knowledge of AP style, journalistic writing practices and understands the specific communication needs within higher education. It is important to have writing skills along with research abilities and organizational prowess. The ability to handle assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines is essential. Familiarity with web content management systems, social media management tools and even basic HTML coding would be advantageous for this position. Please note that this role may require availability during nights and weekends as being on call for emergency response communication situations. Applicants should have a bachelors degree in a field and prior experience in writing for education institutions or professional media organizations would be highly beneficial.
