Staff / Senior Scientist, Assay Development (Chemistry)

Glyphic Biotechnologies is hiring a Staff / Senior Scientist, Assay Development (Chemistry) to join our team in Berkeley, Alameda County. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity to help build the chemistry that powers a next-generation, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform.

About the Role

As a Staff / Senior Scientist on the Assay Development team, you will design, optimize, and troubleshoot the chemical assays at the heart of Glyphic's proteome sequencing technology. Based at our Berkeley laboratory, you will translate novel chemistry concepts into robust, reproducible workflows that move the platform from bench experiments toward scalable performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine chemistry-based assays that enable single-molecule protein sequencing.
• Plan and run rigorous experiments, analyze results, and iterate quickly on assay conditions and reagents.
• Diagnose technical bottlenecks and improve assay sensitivity, specificity, and reliability.
• Document methods and findings clearly, and present outcomes to cross-functional scientific teams.
• Collaborate with biology, engineering, and software colleagues to integrate chemistry into the broader sequencing platform.

Qualifications

• Advanced training in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, with substantial hands-on assay development experience.
• Demonstrated expertise designing and optimizing chemical or biochemical assays, ideally in a research or platform-development setting.
• Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively on-site in Berkeley within a fast-moving, collaborative team environment.
