This full-time position manages end-to-end payroll processing for union and non-union workforces across multiple states, reporting directly to the Payroll Supervisor and serving as a key member of the payroll operations team.

The Sr. Payroll Specialist takes ownership of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll execution for a diverse workforce. You'll navigate complex union agreements, multi-jurisdictional tax requirements, and varying compensation structures while maintaining the precision and confidentiality this role demands. Your work directly impacts employee satisfaction and organizational compliance.
What You'll Do
- Execute multistate payroll processing for unionized and non-unionized employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Verify all wage calculations, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings before pay runs
- Administer union agreement compliance, including wage rates, benefit allocations, and reporting requirements
- Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws, wage regulations, and employment standards
- Prepare payroll tax returns, regulatory filings, and audit-ready documentation
- Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies with attention to detail
- Partner with HR, finance, and operations teams to resolve employee pay questions and system issues
- Support payroll system integrity and contribute to process improvements
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in senior payroll processing or payroll administration roles
- Deep knowledge of multistate payroll processing and federal, state, and local compliance requirements
- Proven expertise managing unionized workforces and union agreement administration
- Strong proficiency with payroll software platforms and advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
