About the Role

The Special Olympics Coordinator builds and sustains a dynamic, athlete-centered program that delivers training, competition, and personal development for students with intellectual disabilities. You'll bridge athletes, coaches, families, and community partners around a shared commitment to inclusion, achievement, and athletic growth.

What You'll Do

• Plan and oversee Special Olympics training sessions, practices, and competitive events
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer coaches and community partners
• Process athlete registration, verify eligibility, and track individual progress
• Manage transportation, secure equipment, and coordinate event logistics
• Build relationships with families, school staff, and local Special Olympics organizations
• Promote program awareness and engage families in the athletic community
• Document outcomes and demonstrate athlete success

• Thorough knowledge of Special Olympics mission, rules, and athlete eligibility requirements
• Proven ability to organize complex programs and manage multiple priorities
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in educational or sports settings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated capacity to inspire athletes and mobilize volunteers
