Special Education Teacher (Lower School)

Join Morris Jeff Community School as a Special Education Teacher for Lower School (Grades K–5) in New Orleans, Orleans Parish. About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher at Morris Jeff Community School, you'll work with elementary students (K–5) who require specialized instruction and targeted support. What You'll Do

• Deliver differentiated, evidence-based special education instruction tailored to individual student needs
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with IDEA requirements and school-wide objectives
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, school specialists, and families to support student success
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure students reach their learning goals
• Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all learners feel valued
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding academic progress and skill development
• Participate in professional development and contribute to school initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Current Louisiana certification in special education or eligibility for Louisiana teacher certification
• Demonstrated expertise in special education instruction, assessment, and IEP development
• Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to creating inclusive, equitable learning environments
• Passion for helping all students develop confidence and academic independence
