Wakefield Public Schools invites a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our elementary team at Walton Elementary School. In this meaningful part-time role, you'll provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities, partnering with colleagues to create inclusive learning environments where all students thrive.
About the Role
This position represents a.5 FTE commitment within Wakefield Public Schools' Special Education Department. You'll work at Walton Elementary School, delivering targeted, research-based instruction to elementary students with disabilities across both inclusive classroom settings and dedicated resource room environments.
What You'll Do
- Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Co-teach with general education instructors to support student success in inclusive classrooms
- Facilitate small-group and resource-based instruction tailored to individual learning profiles
- Adapt curriculum materials and create differentiated learning experiences
- Progress-monitor and communicate student achievement data with families and staff
- Maintain special education documentation and collaborate on IEP development
What We're Looking For
- Valid Massachusetts DESE Special Education Teacher License (required)
- Master's degree in Special Education or related discipline (preferred)
- Background teaching elementary students with identified disabilities
- Strong collaborative capacity and comfort in co-teaching models
- Commitment to evidence-based practices and inclusive education principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues
