Community Consolidated School District 64 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Instructional Teacher for its Structured Learning Community (SLC) Classroom at Washington Elementary School, a full-time, on-site role beginning with the 2026-27 school year.
About the Role
As a Special Education Instructional Teacher in the Structured Learning Community Classroom, you will design and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the individual needs of students requiring a structured, supportive learning environment. This in-person position at Washington Elementary School places you at the heart of a collaborative team focused on helping every learner grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and provide individualized, evidence-based instruction within the SLC classroom setting.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with each student's goals.
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Track student progress and adjust instructional strategies to support measurable growth.
- Partner with families, paraprofessionals, related-service providers, and general education staff to coordinate student support.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom climate that encourages engagement and independence.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois teaching licensure with a Special Education endorsement (LBS1 or equivalent).
- Experience supporting students with significant learning, developmental, or behavioral needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of IEP development, specialized instructional methods, and structured classroom practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across an interdisciplinary team.
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered education.
