About the Role
As a Software Engineer Recruiter at Orbis, you'll drive revenue and growth by identifying, screening, and placing skilled software engineers with companies across Austin and the broader US market. This full-desk consulting position puts you in direct control of the candidate experience, client relationships, and your market territory. You'll earn a competitive base salary plus uncapped commission based on placements closed.
What You'll Do
- Source and evaluate software engineering candidates through networking, direct outreach, and industry research, assessing both technical capabilities and fit
- Develop and expand client relationships, understanding their engineering hiring needs and team composition
- Conduct candidate interviews, manage reference checks, and shepherd placements through to completion
- Negotiate terms and close placements, ensuring smooth transitions for both candidates and hiring teams
- Build specialized market knowledge around software engineering talent in Austin and nationally, tracking skill trends and emerging specializations
- Own your recruiting territory long-term, building recurring relationships and expanding your revenue base
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience as a full-desk technical recruiter, with a track record of sourcing and placing software engineers or technical talent
- Proven ability to manage both candidate pipelines and client relationships independently
- Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to build credibility with hiring managers and candidates alike
- Self-directed work style with demonstrated success managing your own goals and targets
- Working knowledge of software engineering roles, development methodologies, and technical job requirements
- Commitment to building long-term market expertise and owning your segment
