Join The University of Texas at Arlington Portal as a Social Worker I—Prevention Specialist with the Youth Prevention program, serving at-risk youth across Arlington and Tarrant County. In this full-time role within the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies, you'll create meaningful change by delivering evidence-based prevention services in schools and community settings throughout the region.
About the Role
The Youth Prevention program reaches students in grades 1–12 who face risk factors related to substance use and other behavioral health concerns. Working from school-based and community locations, you'll provide direct prevention services, build protective skills, and connect young people with resources that support their healthy development. This position is designed for someone who thrives in collaborative, dynamic environments and is energized by working directly with students across diverse backgrounds.
What You'll Do
- Lead prevention-focused group sessions with students to build resilience and decision-making skills
- Create and deliver interactive educational activities addressing alcohol, tobacco, and other risk factors
- Assess individual and group needs to tailor prevention interventions appropriately
- Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and community partners to strengthen prevention efforts
- Build trusting relationships with young people to encourage engagement and positive outcomes
- Maintain records and contribute data to program evaluation initiatives
