Role Overview

As a Social Worker with North Palos School District 117, you'll provide vital student support services at Oak Ridge Elementary School. In this full-time position, you'll partner with families, teachers, and administrators to address barriers to learning and help every student thrive academically and socially. Beginning August 11, 2026, you'll work at the heart of a collaborative environment where your expertise in counseling, family engagement, and crisis intervention directly strengthens student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs through individual and group counseling
• Develop and implement intervention plans that support student academic progress and emotional wellbeing
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify at-risk students and coordinate supportive services
• Conduct home visits and engage families in goal-setting and problem-solving around student success
• Connect families with community resources, mental health services, and support programs
• Participate in IEP meetings and 504 plan development as needed
• Maintain detailed case notes and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Support crisis intervention and help students navigate personal, family, or behavioral challenges
• Attend professional development and stay current with best practices in school social work

What We're Looking For

• Valid Illinois school social work license or eligibility to obtain one
• Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred
• Experience working with elementary-age children and their families
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize multiple demands
• Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice
• Willingness to partner with families and community organizations
