Shift Utility Mechanic

Synthomer is hiring a Shift Utility Mechanic for our Jefferson Hills facility, located approximately 15 miles south of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County. This is a full-time position supporting plant operations across our manufacturing site in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

About the Role

As a Shift Utility Mechanic, you'll be the technical backbone of daily operations, keeping our equipment running smoothly and ensuring production continuity. You'll work closely with the Shift Supervisor and Operations team to deliver reliable mechanical and maintenance support across our entire facility. This hands-on role requires both technical skill and strong collaboration to meet our operational demands.

What You'll Do

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on mechanical equipment, pumps, compressors, and utility systems throughout the plant
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures to minimize downtime and restore production capacity
• Execute preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment in peak operating condition
• Inspect machinery and components to identify wear, damage, or potential issues before they impact operations
• Assist operators and shift supervisors with mechanical support and technical guidance
• Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements during maintenance and repair work
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
• Respond promptly to urgent mechanical issues during your shift

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a utility mechanic, maintenance technician, or similar mechanical role in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills
• Familiarity with pumps, motors, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety practices
• Reliable, safety-conscious mindset and ability to work shift schedules
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with operations teams
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical certification or apprenticeship a plus
