Senior Software Engineer- Data Engineering

Axonius is hiring a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Data Engineering to join its team in Tel Aviv, Israel. In this full-time, on-site role, you will architect the data backbone that turns sprawling, disconnected information into structured intelligence the entire organization can act on.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer (Data Engineering) at Axonius, you'll own the design and construction of the data platforms, machine learning pipelines, tooling, and cloud infrastructure that convert massive, fragmented datasets into standardized, process-ready formats. Your contributions give business stakeholders end-to-end visibility, unlock automation, and fuel strategic decision-making across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and deliver every layer of the platform's data systems, ML pipelines, and the infrastructure that supports them.
• Engineer and tune an AWS-based Data Lake, applying cloud architecture best practices for partitioning, metadata handling, and security at enterprise scale.
• Drive data initiatives from first infrastructure sketches all the way to production monitoring and ongoing optimization.
• Build efficient ETL/ELT workflows and query strategies that resolve tough integration problems across both structured and unstructured sources.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and maintaining big data pipelines in on-premises or hybrid cloud SaaS settings.
• Strong command of at least one of Python, Scala, Java, or Go, plus solid experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• A track record of applying software engineering fundamentals — testing, code reviews, design docs, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience developing pipelines and managing data lakes on AWS.
• Working knowledge of Kafka and orchestration tools such as Airflow.

Nice to have: familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform; exposure to the modern data stack including Databricks, Snowflake, MongoDB, and open table formats like Iceberg or Delta; and experience designing ML/AI-driven production infrastructure.
