AbCellera seeks a Senior Research Scientist - Toxicology in Vancouver to expand its Nonclinical Safety efforts. This full-time role lets you guide safety evaluations for promising drug candidates inside a focused research setting.
Position Summary
In the Senior Research Scientist - Toxicology position at AbCellera you will work within the Vancouver-based Nonclinical Safety team to design and run studies that appraise candidate-drug safety. The role calls for firm toxicology principles plus hands-on practice with laboratory in vitro methods and/or animal in vivo models. Annual pay falls between CAD $115,000 and $143,000 according to education together with role-related knowledge, skills and experience. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Shape, schedule and oversee in vitro safety work as well as in vivo toxicology studies so they satisfy worldwide regulatory standards and match AbCellera priorities
- Serve as the Nonclinical Safety technical authority inside multi-function project groups and speak for the discipline in both internal and external discussions
- Examine intricate toxicology data packages, then convert findings into clear risk-benefit insights and shape recommendations for project teams plus executive leaders
- Keep complete, accurate nonclinical safety records that meet Good Laboratory Practice rules
- Draft and rigorously critique the in vitro safety, toxicology and safety-pharmacology portions of regulatory filings such as INDs, CTAs, IBs and BLAs
- Partner with researchers from matrix-style teams throughout AbCellera to safeguard data quality and hasten program timelines
- Aid the evolution of broader toxicology strategies and step in as the nonclinical-safety or toxicology representative whenever required
- Track current toxicology literature and changing regulatory expectations that touch AbCellera’s portfolio, then fold useful insights into local practices
What We're Looking For
- PhD in Toxicology or an allied discipline plus five to eight years of industry experience supporting biologics development; candidates who hold an MSc and ten or more years of relevant background are also considered
- Broad practical experience running in vitro and/or in vivo toxicology studies
- Proven skill in nonclinical safety work focused on large-molecule biologics
- Robust organizational, problem-solving and analytical strengths that let you dissect complex data sets and offer strategic options
- Excellent scientific writing, presentation and collaboration skills that support leading technical talks and guiding decisions
- DABT certification is highly desirable though not mandatory
