Senior Scientist, Computational Biology – Contract

Tessera Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Scientist, Computational Biology on a contract basis in Somerville, Middlesex County, to advance the analytical foundations of next-generation genome editing medicines.

About the Role

This on-site, full-time contract position places you at the center of Tessera Therapeutics' genome editing programs in Somerville, Massachusetts. As a Senior Scientist in Computational Biology, you will apply deep expertise in sequencing analysis and off-target discovery to help characterize the safety and precision of editing technologies, partnering closely with experimental teams to turn complex genomic data into actionable scientific insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute computational analyses supporting genome editing programs and their off-target discovery and verification workflows.
• Analyze whole-genome and targeted sequencing data, including outputs from assays such as GUIDE-seq and Digenome-seq.
• Detect and interpret large and small structural variations, translocation events, and other genomic outcomes of editing.
• Apply next-generation sequencing quality-control methods to ensure data integrity across discovery and verification efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams to communicate findings and inform program decisions.

Qualifications

• PhD with 5 years of relevant experience in an academic or industry environment; or an MS with 10 years; or a BS with 12 years.
• Extensive understanding of genome editing technologies and the off-target discovery assays that accompany them.
• Hands-on familiarity with whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and targeted sequencing approaches.
• Practical experience with GUIDE-seq and Digenome-seq discovery and verification methods.
• Working knowledge of structural variation analysis, translocation effects, and NGS quality control.
