Senior ML Systems Engineer

Join General Motors as a Senior ML Systems Engineer and build the intelligent systems powering autonomous vehicle perception and decision-making. We're seeking an experienced engineer to develop and scale machine learning infrastructure for self-driving technology at our Tumwater, Washington office.

About the Role

As a Senior ML Systems Engineer, you'll architect and operate the data engineering pipelines, labeling infrastructure, and ML systems that enable our autonomous vehicles to understand their environment in real time. This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll work at the intersection of machine learning, systems engineering, and autonomous driving—solving complex challenges in data processing, model validation, and production ML deployment.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain hybrid human-machine data labeling pipelines that process sensor data from autonomous vehicle fleets
• Engineer scalable ML systems infrastructure for training, evaluation, and deployment of perception models
• Collaborate with data science, robotics, and autonomous systems teams to optimize data collection and annotation workflows
• Develop tools and platforms that improve the efficiency and accuracy of machine learning data pipelines
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance production ML systems supporting autonomous vehicle operations
• Establish best practices for data quality, versioning, and reproducibility across ML workflows

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning systems engineering, data infrastructure, or related roles
• Strong expertise in building and scaling data pipelines and ML infrastructure
• Solid foundation in Python, distributed systems, and cloud-based ML platforms
• Experience with autonomous systems, computer vision, or robotics is highly valued
• Proven ability to design systems that balance engineering rigor with operational reliability
• Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
