Simon Property Group seeks an experienced Senior Maintenance Worker to join our team at The Shops at Mission Viejo, a premier retail destination in Orange County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to maintain critical building systems and lead maintenance operations at one of Southern California's most active shopping centers.
About the Role
As Senior Maintenance Worker, you'll be responsible for the continuous upkeep and repair of The Shops at Mission Viejo's mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems. You'll perform both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs while supervising and coordinating the work of other maintenance team members. This is a hands-on leadership position where your expertise directly impacts the facility's operational reliability and customer experience.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
- Execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespan
- Conduct routine inspections of building infrastructure, HVAC units, electrical systems, and plumbing networks
- Supervise and direct maintenance personnel on assigned projects and daily operations
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency calls to ensure continuous facility operation
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and building codes
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a maintenance worker or technician, preferably in commercial or retail facilities
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance problems independently
- Leadership skills with experience supervising or training maintenance staff
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, climb ladders, and work in varied environments
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
