Scholastic Book Fairs
Scholastic Book Fairs is seeking a Senior Editor for SuperSTEM, our premier science and technology publication. This full-time position is based in New York City and requires a minimum of two days per week at our SoHo office. You'll be a key member of our editorial team, working closely with leadership to develop compelling, accurate content that engages and educates readers.
About the Role
As Senior Editor at Scholastic Book Fairs, you'll bring editorial expertise and strategic thinking to SuperSTEM's mission. You'll collaborate with our editorial director and team to refine our voice, maintain our publishing standards, and guide writers toward excellence. This role blends hands-on editing with broader content strategy, making it ideal for someone who thrives in both detailed manuscript work and big-picture planning.
What You'll Do
- Edit and refine feature articles, columns, and editorial content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with publication standards
- Work directly with the editorial director to oversee content development and guide the editorial vision
- Review and provide constructive feedback to writers and contributors across all sections
- Ensure factual accuracy and appropriate sourcing for science and technology content
- Collaborate with design and production teams to deliver polished, visually compelling issues
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to content planning and strategy
- Support the team in maintaining consistent quality and voice across all platforms
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of professional editing experience, preferably in magazine, publishing, or digital media
- Proven ability to edit for clarity, tone, and accuracy across diverse subject matter
- Strong understanding of science, technology, or educational content—or eagerness to develop that expertise
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and fact-checking
- Familiarity with editing software and digital publishing workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field preferred
- Ability to work three or more days per week at our New York City office in SoHo
