Senior BI Developer

Amoria Group

Manchester / Hybrid

We’re looking for a Senior BI Developer to take ownership of our BI function within a growing international business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building reporting solutions, solving business problems and working closely with stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who wants real ownership, is comfortable operating independently and enjoys balancing technical delivery with business engagement.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, including the CEO, CFO, Sales Directors and operational leadership teams, helping deliver high-quality reporting and insight that supports strategic decision-making.

The Opportunity

We already have an established BI environment using SQL Server, Azure SQL and Power BI, supporting KPI, financial and operational reporting across the business.

We’re currently undertaking a short-term programme of work to further standardise and improve the underlying data and reporting architecture. This will provide a stronger foundation for reporting and BI delivery going forward.

The focus of this role is to take ownership of the BI function built on top of that platform. You’ll be responsible for delivering new reporting solutions, maintaining and improving the existing environment, supporting stakeholders across the business and ensuring reporting remains accurate, consistent and valuable.

This is not a hands-off management role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to the detail, developing solutions themselves and helping drive continuous improvement across both the reporting environment and underlying BI platform.

The role will also provide day to day support and direction to the BI Developer within the team, helping ensure the function operates effectively and continues to develop over time.

There is significant opportunity to influence how reporting and data are managed across the organisation, shape reporting standards and help define the future direction of BI as the business continues to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for BI across the business
  • Working directly with stakeholders to understand, challenge and prioritise requirements
  • Managing the BI development backlog and reporting roadmap
  • Designing, developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards and datasets
  • Developing and maintaining semantic models, measures and reporting structures
  • Delivering KPI, financial and operational reporting across the business
  • Supporting ownership of data definitions, KPI logic and reporting standards
  • Maintaining and enhancing SQL reporting and transformation layers
  • Supporting ETL and data pipeline processes
  • Helping embed and build upon improvements made to the underlying BI platform
  • Supporting reporting governance, documentation and consistency
  • Reducing duplication across reports, datasets and reporting logic
  • Providing day-to-day support, guidance and prioritisation for the BI Developer within the team
  • Driving adoption and value from reporting and insight across the business

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with strong technical capability, a practical mindset and the confidence to work directly with stakeholders across all levels of the business.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

  • Microsoft Power BI
  • DAX
  • SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Azure SQL
  • ETL / ELT processes
  • Data pipeline development and support
  • Data modelling and semantic models
  • KPI, financial, management and operational reporting
  • Dashboard and report design
  • Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
  • BI governance and reporting best practice
  • Supporting, mentoring or managing technical resource

Experience working across both reporting and underlying data platforms is highly desirable.

You’ll Also Be Someone Who

  • Enjoys solving problems and improving processes
  • Takes ownership and follows things through to completion
  • Is comfortable managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Can communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Is able to operate independently and make decisions
  • Enjoys balancing hands-on development with ownership responsibilities
  • Is comfortable providing direction and support to others
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Wants to help shape the future of BI within a growing business
