Heart of the Rockies Medical is seeking a Full‑Time RN - MedSurg for a travel nursing assignment based in Smeltertown, Chaffee County.

About the Role

This position is a 12‑week travel assignment facilitated through Genie Healthcare, placing you in a medical‑surgical setting in Salida, CO. You will work night shifts on a 3×12 schedule (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), delivering direct patient care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Compensation is determined by the client bill rate at the time of posting and may adjust according to guaranteed hours and other variables.

What You'll Do

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders
  • Monitor vital signs, identify changes in condition, and intervene promptly
  • Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, and post‑discharge instructions
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and facility policies
  • Participate in shift handoffs and contribute to a culture of continuous quality improvement

What We're Looking For

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of Colorado (or compact state eligibility)
  • Minimum of one year of recent medical‑surgical nursing experience
  • BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
  • Flexibility to work rotating night shifts and adapt to varying patient acuities
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence‑based care
