RN – Labor and Delivery

William Newton Hospital in Winfield, Cowley County is seeking a skilled, compassionate Registered Nurse — Labor and Delivery to join our maternal care team on a part-time basis. About the Role

As a Labor and Delivery RN at William Newton Hospital, you will deliver high-quality obstetric nursing care across the full continuum — from early labor through delivery and immediate postpartum stabilization. You will partner closely with physicians, midwives, and the broader care team to ensure safe, family-centered outcomes for every patient we serve in the Winfield and greater Cowley County community.

What You'll Do

• Assess and monitor maternal and fetal status throughout all stages of labor, including continuous electronic fetal monitoring interpretation
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and labor-support interventions per physician orders and established protocols
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and support surgical teams during cesarean sections
• Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and immediate neonatal stabilization
• Recognize and respond swiftly to obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
• Provide individualized education and emotional support to patients and their support persons throughout the labor and delivery experience
• Document clinical findings and interventions accurately in the electronic health record
• Collaborate on quality improvement initiatives that advance patient safety standards in our Labor and Delivery unit

What We're Looking For

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or a recognized compact state
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Prior Labor and Delivery clinical experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated competency in electronic fetal monitoring
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-acuity obstetric situations
