Retail Guitar Repair Tech

Guitar Center is seeking a skilled Retail Guitar Repair Tech to join our Wade Hampton, Greenville County location. This is a full-time position where you'll diagnose, service, and repair guitars and bass guitars for our customers and inventory.

About This Position

As a Retail Guitar Repair Tech at Guitar Center, you're the backbone of our service operations. You'll work with customers to understand their instrument needs, provide expert repairs and adjustments, and deliver the quality craftsmanship that keeps players coming back. Whether it's a quick setup or a complex electronics overhaul, you'll leverage your technical skills and musical knowledge to keep every guitar in top playing condition.

Your Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic assessments on acoustic and electric guitars to identify structural, mechanical, and electronic issues
• Execute setup work including intonation adjustment, action regulation, truss rod tuning, and bridge work
• Repair and replace hardware, pickups, tuning machines, and wiring systems
• Conduct fret dressing, leveling, and crown work as needed
• Communicate directly with customers about repair needs, timelines, and costs
• Maintain clean, organized repair workspace and manage parts inventory
• Document all service work and maintain service records for quality assurance

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience repairing and setting up guitars, or relevant technical training
• Strong working knowledge of guitar construction, materials, and electronics
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and repair equipment
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Professional communication skills and customer-focused service mindset
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with priority changes
• A genuine passion for guitars and the music community
