Join Alabama Public Radio as a Digital Content Reporter and Producer, a full-time role based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at The University of Alabama. You'll produce original news and multimedia content for our growing digital presence, working closely with the APR news team to tell stories that matter to central Alabama.

About the Role

Reporting to the Digital Content Coordinator within the Digital Media Center, you'll be responsible for gathering news, creating digital-first stories, and producing content across multiple platforms. Operating on a flexible Monday–Friday schedule, you'll balance hands-on reporting with thoughtful content production that serves our audience both on-air and online.

What You'll Do

  • Research, investigate, and report stories relevant to central Alabama and the university community
  • Conduct interviews and field reporting to gather information and verify facts
  • Produce multimedia content including audio packages, video stories, and web articles for digital distribution
  • Edit and optimize content for web, social platforms, and podcast formats
  • Collaborate with the Alabama Public Radio news team on story development and editorial planning
  • Maintain journalistic standards and fact-check all reporting before publication

What We're Looking For

  • Prior experience in journalism, news reporting, or digital content production
  • Strong writing and communication skills with a commitment to accuracy
  • Working knowledge of digital audio and video editing tools
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadline-driven demands
