CalPortland is hiring a full-time Ready Mix Plant Manager to lead daily operations at its Ladera Ranch facility in Orange County, California — a key production site for one of the construction materials industry's most established names.
About the Role
As Ready Mix Plant Manager, you will own the full operational lifecycle of the plant — from raw material intake through finished concrete delivery — while driving a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility. This is a hands-on leadership position with direct impact on production efficiency and customer satisfaction across the Orange County market.
What You'll Do
- Direct all plant production activities to meet daily output targets, schedule requirements, and quality standards
- Supervise, train, and develop plant personnel including drivers, batch operators, and maintenance staff
- Monitor and control inventory levels for cement, aggregate, admixtures, and other raw materials
- Enforce strict compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company safety regulations
- Oversee routine equipment inspection, preventive maintenance, and coordination of repairs to minimize downtime
- Review and approve concrete mix designs to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications
- Manage plant costs including labor, materials, and equipment to meet budget targets
- Partner with dispatch, sales, and quality control teams to fulfill customer orders accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate production records, delivery logs, and regulatory documentation
- Champion CalPortland's sustainability initiatives at the facility level
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience managing operations at a ready mix concrete plant or similar heavy building materials facility
- Working knowledge of concrete mix design principles, batching systems, and quality control procedures
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Solid understanding of OSHA, DOT, and California environmental compliance requirements
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proficiency with plant management or dispatch software and standard productivity tools
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus
