R&D Intern – Scientific Messaging

Location: Wageningen, Netherlands 

Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office

Start date: September 2026

Duration: 6 months

About the role  

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented and science-driven R&D Intern – Scientific Messaging to support our R&D team’s and specifically Global Nutrition team. 

We are looking for an intern that will translate R&D expert knowledge into clear scientific position papers and establish a working structure to support external communication. This will strengthen positive category perception by ensuring accruing, up-to-date technical and scientific information is shared with teams such as Corporate Affairs, Internal Communications, Marketing and our consumer careline.

Key responsibilities include identifying R&D topics that present risks or opportunities for our categories (e.g. ingredients, contaminants, processing, food matrix), gathering expert insights from cross-functional teams, and collaborating with Corporate Affairs to set up a continuous communication framework, conducting literature reviews where required, and translating this into communication assets.

So, what does it take to be successful in this role? 

• You are enrolled as a student for the whole duration of the internship in a Dutch or European University.
• You are a Master’s student in Food Technology, Nutrition and Health, or a related field.
• Strong communication skills and an interest in translating science into clear, relatable messages.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) and comfortable taking charge of your own project.
• You are a critical thinker, well-organised and a team player.
• Preferably, you have prior experience in science-to-practice communication.
