Purchasing Agent

Sonaca is hiring a Purchasing Agent for our Cottonwood Falls location in Chase County. This full-time role offers an opportunity to support critical aerospace and defense operations at a company driven by innovation, excellence, and a commitment to safe, sustainable air and space travel.

Position Summary

As a Purchasing Agent at Sonaca, you'll manage procurement operations essential to our aerospace and defense business. You will oversee vendor relationships, negotiate supplier contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of materials and services that support our operations. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the operational excellence and quality standards that define our company.

Your Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers and vendors in accordance with company and industry specifications
• Prepare and negotiate purchase orders and supplier agreements on favorable terms
• Monitor delivery schedules and inventory to maintain optimal material levels
• Track purchasing activities and expedite orders to align with production schedules
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to clarify material and service needs
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all procurement transactions
• Address vendor performance issues and resolve discrepancies to uphold quality standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management roles
• Strong negotiation abilities and proven vendor management experience
• Competency with procurement software and Microsoft Office applications
• Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent priorities
• Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry requirements is advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
