About the Role
As a Turf Field Recreation Specialist with the City of Sarasota, you will contribute to the upkeep and readiness of athletic turf fields and recreation spaces. This position blends groundskeeping know-how with a service-first mindset, ensuring that fields are safe, attractive, and ready for community programs, leagues, and events. The role is on-site in Sarasota and is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and inspect turf athletic fields to keep them in playable, safe condition.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of recreation areas for games, practices, and scheduled events.
- Support general grounds care, equipment handling, and routine field servicing tasks.
- Communicate professionally with staff, participants, and the public while delivering courteous service.
- Follow City safety standards and procedures throughout daily operations.
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in recreation, athletics, or turf and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to perform physical, outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality.
- Willingness to work a part-time schedule that may include evenings, weekends, or event-based hours.
