Project Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design

About the Role

In this Project Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design position, you will guide mechanical systems from early concept through final construction documents, delivering energy-conscious, code-compliant solutions across a varied portfolio of clients and building types throughout Oklahoma and the broader region.

What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end HVAC design for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and select appropriate mechanical equipment
• Produce complete construction document packages — drawings, details, and project specifications
• Coordinate mechanical systems with civil, structural, electrical, and other disciplines on multi-team projects
• Apply ASHRAE standards, the International Mechanical Code, and current energy codes throughout design development
• Conduct site visits and address field conditions and construction-phase RFIs with accurate, timely responses
• Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for conformance with design intent
• Oversee task-level scope, schedule, and budget responsibilities within assigned projects
• Support and develop junior engineers and designers on the mechanical team

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active and demonstrable progress toward licensure
• Proven experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, or industrial buildings
• Proficiency in mechanical design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or comparable platforms
• Solid grounding in ASHRAE standards, IMC requirements, and applicable energy codes
• Clear written and verbal communication skills suited to client interaction and cross-discipline coordination
• Ability to balance multiple active projects and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
