GAI Consultants is seeking a full-time Project Construction Technician to join our team in Fort Wayne, Allen County. In this on-site role, you'll conduct construction inspections, ensure quality compliance, and partner with project supervisors on transportation infrastructure projects throughout Indiana.
About the Role
As a Project Construction Technician for GAI Consultants, you'll work on-site with Project Supervisors and Resident Project Representatives on transportation projects. This field-based position puts you at the center of construction delivery, where daily inspections, quality verification, and coordination with contractors keep projects moving forward safely and on schedule.
What You'll Do
- Perform construction inspections and on-site observations on transportation projects
- Document field conditions, progress, and test results with accurate, timely reporting
- Verify that construction activities comply with project specifications, plans, and applicable codes
- Coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and project supervisors in the field
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders regarding project status and site issues
- Conduct quality control inspections on materials, workmanship, and construction methods
- Assist with field measurements, surveys, and photographic documentation as required
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in construction inspection, construction management, or related field work
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work reliably in varying weather and field conditions
- Attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Indiana for project assignments
