PRODUCE/ASST DEPT LEADER

About the Role

As Produce Assistant Department Leader, you're the backbone of one of the busiest departments in our store. You'll oversee all aspects of produce operations, from customer interactions to behind-the-scenes logistics, ensuring every shopper finds fresh, high-quality products and helpful service every time they visit.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor team members, fostering a positive culture and ensuring consistent training and development
• Maintain pristine displays and merchandising standards that showcase our produce selection and drive sales
• Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to ensure product freshness and minimize waste
• Enforce food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance protocols in full compliance with company and regulatory standards
• Achieve departmental sales targets and profit objectives through effective leadership and customer engagement
• Provide exceptional customer service, answer product questions, and resolve issues with professionalism
• Execute pricing, promotions, and planogram changes accurately and on schedule
• Monitor and maintain a safe, organized work environment that meets all health and safety requirements

What We're Looking For

• Proven supervisory or assistant leadership experience, ideally in grocery or retail produce
• Strong knowledge of produce products, ripeness, selection, and storage best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams and serve customers
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods; comfort with repetitive tasks
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and cleanliness
• Flexibility to work retail hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
• Food safety certification or willingness to obtain it
