About the Role

As Principal UX Designer for Shopping Design, you'll set the direction for the Amazon shopping interface, establishing design frameworks and patterns that define the customer experience across business units. You'll partner with senior leadership to align design vision with strategic priorities, ensuring that shopping experiences remain simple, engaging, and intuitive at scale.

What You'll Do

• Define design systems, interaction patterns, and user experience standards that shopping teams adopt across Amazon
• Conduct research and usability testing to understand how diverse customer segments shop and identify opportunities to improve navigation, search, product discovery, and checkout flows
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate design direction into shipped features
• Mentor and guide design teams, establishing best practices and raising the bar for design excellence
• Balance business objectives with customer needs, making recommendations that drive both engagement and conversion
• Present design decisions to stakeholders, communicating the rationale and impact of strategic choices

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of UX design experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or principal-level role
• Proven track record leading large-scale projects that shaped product strategy or user experience
• Deep expertise in e-commerce, shopping, or consumer-facing digital products
• Strong foundation in user research, interaction design, and design systems
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across organizational levels
• Experience working in cross-functional environments and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups
• Demonstrated leadership, design thinking, and problem-solving abilities
