Principal Analyst – North American LNG

Wood Mackenzie is hiring a Principal Analyst – North American LNG to join our Houston-based team. In this full-time role, you'll deliver strategic market intelligence and analytical insights that shape investment decisions across North America's liquefied natural gas sector.

About the Role

As a Principal Analyst focused on North American LNG, you'll develop deep expertise in LNG market dynamics, infrastructure economics, and the geopolitical factors driving one of the world's most consequential energy markets. Your analysis will inform major energy producers, utilities, financial investors, and government agencies navigating the complex landscape of natural gas liquefaction, export, and international trade.

What You'll Do

• Analyze North American LNG production capacity, export potential, and project feasibility across the region's terminals and development pipeline
• Build demand forecasts and supply scenarios for global and regional LNG markets, integrating macroeconomic trends and regulatory shifts
• Evaluate capital intensity, project economics, and financial returns for liquefaction and regasification infrastructure
• Track geopolitical developments, trade policy, and international LNG competition affecting North American market positioning
• Produce research reports, strategic memoranda, and executive briefings synthesizing market findings and investment implications
• Work cross-functionally with technical and commercial experts to integrate engineering, operational, and market perspectives
• Identify emerging opportunities in LNG technology, trading mechanisms, and infrastructure innovation

What We're Looking For

• Extensive professional experience analyzing energy markets, with demonstrated expertise in natural gas, LNG, or upstream oil and gas sectors
• Comprehensive knowledge of LNG supply chains, project development cycles, and North American market structure
• Advanced skills in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and quantitative research methods
• Proficiency with data analytics platforms, financial modeling tools, and visualization software
• Proven ability to translate complex technical and economic analysis into clear, compelling communications for executive audiences
• Advanced degree in energy, economics, finance, or engineering, or equivalent professional experience in the sector
• Strong project management and ability to deliver high-quality analysis on concurrent assignments
