Catholic Charities of Buffalo is hiring a Preschool Social Worker for our Early Childhood School Social Worker Program in Buffalo, Erie County. In this full-time position, you'll deliver essential social-emotional support and counseling services directly to preschool students, working within school settings to strengthen families and build children's developmental foundation.
About the Role
As our Preschool Social Worker, you will provide expert clinical and therapeutic services within our Early Childhood School Social Worker Program. This role sits at the intersection of education and social services, where you'll assess student needs, deliver interventions, and collaborate with families and educators to support positive development during these critical early years.
What You'll Do
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with preschool-age children to build social and emotional skills
- Provide classroom-embedded support and consultation to teachers on student development and behavior
- Evaluate student needs and family circumstances through comprehensive assessments
- Partner with families, teachers, and school leadership to coordinate services and resources
- Create and implement treatment plans addressing developmental, behavioral, and emotional challenges
- Maintain clinical documentation and participate in collaborative care planning
- Connect families with community-based support and social services
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Social Work or school social work
- Current New York State licensure (LMSW or LCSW)
- Direct experience serving preschool populations in school or early childhood settings
- Solid foundation in child development theory and social-emotional learning practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse families and cultures
- Ability to balance clinical work with system-wide collaboration in a school environment
