The University of Maryland is seeking a motivated Post Doctoral Associate to join the Department of Veterinary Medicine within the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. This full-time, on-site research role is based at UMD College Park, just minutes from Washington, DC.
About the Role
As a Post Doctoral Associate at the University of Maryland, you will conduct advanced research in human and veterinary microbiology alongside a community of accomplished scientists. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful discoveries while developing your own independent research portfolio in a collaborative academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and carry out original research projects in microbiology relevant to human and veterinary health.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using sound scientific methods.
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication and present findings at scientific meetings.
- Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and laboratory colleagues across the department.
- Contribute to grant proposals and help advance ongoing funded research initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and follow established laboratory safety and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- A completed (or soon-to-be-completed) PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in microbiology, veterinary medicine, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated research experience and a track record of scientific writing or publication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and laboratory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Availability for full-time, in-person work at the College Park campus.
